Primary Profiles: Site Supervisor, Doug Hardy

1) What made you choose to work in the Security industry?

While trying to find work in the industrial/warehousing industry, I grew tired of working for a company that only needed my services short term. I saw an ad in a newspaper for Security Guards so I decided to take a chance. After doing my research, I found out quickly that as the economy was starting to decline, the Security Business was climbing. I decided to give Security work a chance in hopes to finding long term work at one company.

2) Why and how did you choose Primary Response?

After I received my Security License I began sending out my resume immediately. Primary Response Inc. was one of the first companies to contact me. After several interviews with other Security Companies, I decided to accept a job at Primary Response Inc. The reason I choose Primary Response Inc. was due to the fact that during my interview with the Primary Response Inc. recruiter, He gave me a clear view of what I could expect while working with the company and even let me know where I would be working. No other Security Company I had an interview with, had a plan for me and did not make me feel comfortable like Primary Response Inc. did.

3) What advice would you give someone entering the security industry today?

I would tell anyone that’s just entering into the security field to give it their all and good things will happen. Primary Response Inc. notices and rewards hard workers. While working at Primary Response Inc. there is always room to advance.

4) How do you maintain a healthy work life balance?

I always keep myself busy with my home life and my family. Primary Response Inc. also holds some events which allow the security Officers and their families to participate in and have fun which takes your mind off of the stresses that work can cause.

5) What do you enjoy most about your job with Primary Response?

The main thing I like about being a security guard is that I get to assist in solving staff/students/visitors problems, whether it’s administering first aid or escorting someone to a specific area, knowing that I helped is a good feeling. It also gives me the opportunity to work side by side with the Police and Fire Departments.

6) What do you do for fun when you’re not at work?

While I’m not at work, I enjoying hanging out with friends and family. I love spending time with my wife and kids. Activities my family and I like to do are swimming, camping, watching movies, and playing sports. I also enjoy playing my drums. I play live at least once a month with my band at bars across the GTA.

7) Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I am planning on a career here at Primary Response Inc. As I have worked at all Sheridan College Campuses, I would love to work as an assistant to the Client Service manager or a job similar to this. I would love to be a permanent member of the Primary Response Inc. Team.
